how about the capability of making a player inactive for a single game? CyberSports, I know, allows you to do this and not lose that player's stats in the team and season totals.
My reasoning is due to the fact the 1. our men's basketball coach rotates his bottom tier players and allows some to dress some games based on how they do in practice and 2. since I have to put all those players on the roster, the opponents have them and 'might' give them stats when they didn't play or even dress - I can't tell you how many times this has happened.
The point you make is very valid. Item 2 could be fairly complciated because, unfortunately, people don't always downlaod the roster, and often times just type them in manually.
We will keep our eyes open to see how this could possibly fit into some of the things we're working on for future releases of DakStats Basketball.
We really appreciate the feedback! Please keep letting us know if you have thoughts!
We haven't heard from many other people concerning this feature. We will wait before implementing any new code until the thread generates a little more responses.
Remember, the software already allows you to activate/inactiviate players. But, when others download your roster via the web-sync, they won't download your active/inactive flag. But, that can be changed if there is enough demand. However, this would also mean you would have to be more diligent in keeping your roster up to date...to make sure when opponents download your roster that it correctly identifies the active players. This might lead to more problems than it will solve...if opponents download your roster before you have properly updated the 'active' flag.
We look forward to hearing your feedback. If this feature is something that is creating a lot of buzz we can add it to our next release.
The problem is that when you make a player INACTIVE, it subtracts their stats from the team totals, etc., and totally skews the team totals, especially when you websync.
Can you please give specific example of a player/report...
Making a player inactive should NOT change or skew any statistics. We put code in place to handle this both on local reports you run in DakStats and on the central server for the Web-Sync reports.
I believe most reports (both in DakStats and on the Web-Sync) take into account inactive players. The reports will print the same reguardless of the active/inactive flag.
Like a box score for a game...go ahead and make all your players inactive...and run the report again. You will see ALL players who have stats will be dispalyed and your team totals will remain the same reguardless of any player's inactive flag.
If you do find a report that does not handle the inactive flag properly let us know...but to the best of our knowlege all reports should handle this scenario already.
OK ... did not know that had been changed ... I know it use to be a problem since there for a few seasons our mbb team had a revolving door or sorts during the year
