Why so late in releasing update???

Why is the updated versions ALWAYS so late in being released?

It's about week until the season openers for soccer and volleyball - two weeks for football, and the updated version is JUST NOW available???

I like to have my stats software in place MONTHS prior to the season opener. As a SID, I have too many other issues to deal with than to worry about my stats software being in place. By waiting so late to release it, it makes things very RUSHED to get the games set up.

For basketball, I'd like to see the updates available in Sept. (actually, I'd prefer it to be ready NOW) rathern than mid- to late-October.

Yet another reason why I prefer Stat Crew.

A very fair question.  Your observation is also correct, we usually release these fall updates in mid August.

We shoot for earlier release dates, but these get affected by a number of things.  Most significantly of which is the feedback we receive at NAIA-SIDA.  Development occurs throughout the year, but following NAIA-SIDA, we basically have a month to wrap-up development and testing for DakStats, Football, Volleyball, Soccer and the entire Web-Sync site.

That being said, there should be little that should prevent teams from having software in place and ready to go well in advance of the seasons.  Games can always be setup in the prior version, and schedules can be Web-Sycned as soon as we open reporting for the season.  In this case, teams have been Web-Syncing their schedules since early July.   When the update is released its a quick install.  Any data or information already entered will still be in place.

We are definitely conscious of the time demands put on SIDs and coaches.   Let me reinforce that we encourage all SIDs to use the software that works best for them during their events.  We feel DakStats has advantages over Stat Crew in many areas, but also acknowledge that people who have been using Stat Crew for a long time prefer to keep using it.

Everyone has different preferences; DakStats allows the exchanging of game files and information giving SIDs a choice of which software they want to use during games.  The only requirement form the NAIA standpoint is that stats are reported using our Web-Sync process.

In regards to the Basketball updates,  many of our planned updates are already complete,  we will post a release date in the upcoming weeks.
Thank you for your comments.
