Here is a great question from a lot of our fans - why doesn't the Dak boxscore (like the one that is printed out courtside) appear on the DakStats site? Fans (and coaches) cannot figure out who played how many minutes and have to go from screen to screen to get different info...
I know this is the same in each sport...is it a tough fix or a web-based software issue?
What hurts is that our conference went from TAS to Dak when SIDHelp took over our site - and the complaints from fans on my end have been overwhelming (at least they aren't complaining about scores not being up)
The current boxscores on the web-sync website don't display Minutes Played because we didn't know how many schools would accurately collect and report that statistic. We didn't want to show a stat that was mostly zero, or always zero, or didn't add up to a 200 minute game.
Enough schools have asked us to add minutes played to the boxscore, that we will try to have that page updated before basketball starts this fall/winter.
Besides the Minutes played, are their other parts to the boxscore that you would like to see changed or new fields added?
The only important thing to remember is we don't want to display stats that not being consistantly collected...for example many schools don't collect fast break points for all home and away games. We probably won't display that statistic until all schools are comfortable and consistant in reporting that statistic.
Why not just make the regular box like we are all used to available in addtion to what you do, I know you do yours because it is searchable, but if you take the box and look at it and match up what you display, you can see what we want. We want the entire box visable like we get printed out. Its that simple. We've asked this numerous times. Just look at the box your program produces and put it up. Also, do the same for the season box score. These are traditional boxes that people are used to reading. The normal joe can't understand what you display. Its great for the SID's and coaches and some advanced fans, but the average Joe and many coaches can't figure out how to do this.
One wish I have for the box score is that one more space be added between the total fouls and total points, so that the two columns do not run next to each other:
NO PLAYER P FG FGA FG FGA FT FTA OFF DEF TOT PF TP A TO BK S MIN (Player totals) Team Totals 38 69 12 21 12 19 16 36 52 18100 26 21 4 8 200
Just as a follow up to Big_Dawg's post. This style of Box report was added to the Web-Sync site on August 14th. It's been in the works for a while and was part of our fall 2007 updates.
As requested, all data is available on one page. Look for "Season Box" in the drop list of individual reports. It's available for all sports.
Thanks for the suggestion. Something this basic should be no problem to take care of. Look for it in the next update.
Also, for others that are having difficulty fitting reports from the DakStats software on one page, the text size can be easily changed prior to printing reports. When the report is open, click View | Text Size and go with a smaller text size.
