when you print out the DakStats p-b-p, it needs 4 or 5 sheets of paper. stat crew requires 1 or 2 ... Plus, it's easy to get lost in the all the ball, ball, swinging strike, fouled off pitch narrative ... or is that p-b-p just for the webcast???
We do have two different play by plays. One that is a narrative and one that is designed for the webcast.
The narrative was intended to be used or posted after the game is over (you don't want or need to see every pitch, every base running play, etc). http://www.dakstats.com/ba/pbp_69.html
The webcast play by play which you linked to above was designed to be more informative to allow people who are watching LIVEwebcasts to be entertained and up to date with every play. That way you can know how every at bat went and how each player advanced along the basepath to get a better flow of the game.
There are two reports and each has its own intended use.
