Exporting the play-by-play

Wanted to submit a request about play-by-play:
Since the play-by-play does not travel with the game file, would there be a more efficient way of generating the play-by-play so that it could be combined into one HTML file, rather than having to generate and rename two (or more) HTML files?

I think you are referring to the fact that we break out play-by-play report into quarters, each is a seperate HTML file.  There is currently no single report that has all play-by-play data on a single page.

If we also provided a full Play-by-play report, will that be sufficient?

In the long term we are working on ways to bring the play-by-play along with the exported game.  We understand the need to retain the play-by-play, but have some liimitations with the way the way DakStats is currently handling the play-by-play info.  We look forward to being able to transfer the play-by-play info in the future.

Yes, I'd be interested in being able to save the full play-by-play (of course, the college game is in halves, though)

Only high schools and the NBA use quarters. The play by pay for college should have three options for a play by play report.

1. 1st half
2. 2nd half
3. Full Game

Please forgive my wording in the prior post. The intended meaning was that we print our play-by-play report by period. I said "quarter". We understand and account for the difference between high school, NBA and game formats.

The option for 1st half and 2nd half play-by-play reports are already available. As Mike mentioned, a single full game report will be quite helpful. We should be able to have this available in the update this season.

I'm not sure why producing an XML file with they play-by-play would be so difficult.

Cybersports does this as part of their new basketball release.

You can generate an export an XML file that has all the statistical data and play by play data. But, unless you write an XSLT stylesheet for the file it won't help much for displaying for fans on websites. The XML file is really used as a data file to import/export between computers.

I think perhaps until things are figured out to export the play-by-play, an easy solution to what seems to be a pretty consistent question is simple.

We need a report that combines the boxscore with the play-by-play file (all in one). This would eliminate the need to save three seperate files, ie 1st half pbp, 2nd half pbp and boxscore.

This is pretty much what statcrew offers I believe.

Any thoughts.

I have downloaded the DakStats trial version for basketball.

I am trying to export a play-by-play XML. This thread says there is a way to do this, but I am unable to make this work. Could you please give me directions?

Thanks

Open the game and click Game Control.  Export as XML is one of the options.
